Early Learning School

A grade level representative from each grade K-5 have been taking part in Math Advantage Professional Development. There are eight in-person sessions led by a Math Advantage representative over the course of a few months. These training sessions focus on the conceptual understanding of the foundational skills in math (addition, subtraction, division and multiplication). The sessions offered staff research-based diagnostic assessments, learning progressions and high quality instructional tools. As a district, we are working to expand and deepen our knowledge and understanding of the mathematical development for all students. #RepthatA

Members of the Alliance Fire Department visited Alliance Early Learning School last week! The students learned about the different responsibility the firemen have and got to see a firetruck up close. Thank you to the Alliance Fire Department for visiting our youngest Aviators! #RepthatA

Michelle Balderson, Director of Elementary Education, visited Crystal Gibbons class at AELS to read them a story last week. They read "The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything" and the students loved it! #RepthatA

Adam DeMonte is the assistant principal at Alliance Early Learning School! Mr. DeMonte's fun facts include: 1. Growing up at my house we raised chickens, ducks, ponies, and turkeys. 2. I met my wife in high school. 3. I've never broken a bone. 4. My favorite holiday is Halloween. 5. My favorite car is an El Camino. #RepthatA

October is Principal Appreciation Month! In celebration, we are sharing "getting to know you" posts that will include fun facts about each of our wonderful principals. First up is Holly Power the principal at Alliance Early Learning School! Mrs. Power's fun facts include: 1. I love to cook, and almost went to culinary school instead of going into education. 2. I danced for 17 years and did the basics like ballet, but also practiced Irish Step Dancing and Ballroom dancing. 3. I was born in Florida, but HATE the heat. 4. I was named Holly because my birthday is a week before Christmas. 5. I only drink tea if it is hot, or coffee if it is iced! #RepthatA

First grade students at AELS started the school year with a focus on character building and getting along together. Kate Harris' class wrote their own version of the book "It's OK to Feel" by Zachary Gibson and sent a copy to the author. Awesome job, first graders! #RepthatA
